Kevin Kirk — Lone Star Specialist

The engineer behind Lone Star Specialist — building, managing, and optimizing websites for search, AI, and accessibility, backed by real infrastructure and security engineering. Remote-first across Texas.

About

I'm Kevin Kirk, and Lone Star Specialist is my Texas-based web practice. I build, manage, and optimize websites so they get found — by people, by search engines, and by the AI assistants people increasingly ask instead of searching. Fixed-bid projects with a clear start and end, or ongoing managed care — remote-first from Fort Worth and across the DFW metro.

The work is four disciplines that fit together: development — fast, secure sites and web apps on Astro, Tailwind, and TypeScript, deployed to Cloudflare Pages and Workers; ongoing site management; search optimization (SEO); and the newer disciplines that decide whether you show up at all — answer-engine optimization (AEO), generative-engine optimization (GEO), and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility and ADA compliance. One engineer owns all of it, so the SEO doesn't fight the build and accessibility isn't bolted on at the end.

Behind that is five years of production infrastructure and security engineering — RHEL and Windows fleets, networking and firewalls, backup/DR, and SIEM — with eight active certifications across systems, networking, virtualization, and security, including DoD STIG hardening to DISA and NIST 800-53 standards. That is why the sites I ship come with what most web shops skip: strict security headers, correct redirects, real performance tuning, and compliance done to an auditable standard, not a plugin's say-so.

The proof is this site — it audits at an A, loads in well under a second, ships full structured data and an llms.txt for AI engines, and is built to WCAG 2.2 AA. Whether you need a new site, a rescue of a slow or dated one, ongoing care, or an audit that shows exactly why you are not getting found, I scope it, own it, and hand it back documented.

Background

More on the practice

Lone Star Specialist is a Texas-based web practice: development, ongoing site management, and the optimization and compliance work — SEO, AEO, GEO, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility — that decides whether a site actually gets found and can be used by everyone. It is backed by five years of production infrastructure work and eight active certifications across systems, networking, virtualization, and security.

My method comes down to three habits carried over from running production systems: write the plan before I make the change, validate against named gates, and leave deliverables in your repository with comments that survive after the engagement closes. Audits are measured, remediations are tested, and accessibility and compliance work is done to an auditable standard — following WCAG 2.2 AA, and DISA STIG / NIST 800-53 on the security side.

The fastest path to a fit assessment is the contact page. Work is scoped as fixed-bid projects with clear start and end dates, or as an ongoing monthly managed-care plan.
